About the Metal Shop
A fabrication studio offering tools for welding, metal shaping, and jewelry making, open to students of all skill levels following safety orientation and equipment training. The shop is located on the Oakland campus, in Aron Art Center Building D, room 103.
Open hours
*Starting May 13th, our summer hours will be 11am to 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you have any questions, please email oak.woodmetal@northeastern.edu. Please register for open hour reservations using the link below. Users will need to have completed both a Safety Orientation, and one Tool Training to register for Open Hours. No drop ins will be accepted*
We host workshops and tutorials throughout the semester so you can come in and make things. All you need to do is attend an orientation and wear appropriate clothing (always natural fiber pants and close-toed shoes!). Please make an appointment to come in and work on your projects after training!

Orientations
Please register for Safety Orientations using the link below. Once you have completed the Orientation, please email oak.woodmetal@northeastern.edu to schedule a training.
To work in the Metalshop, you must attend a Safety Orientation and Tool training. Orientation includes:
Shop safety and PPE (personal protective equipment)
Expected behaviors
Potential hazards
How to reserve equipment or schedule appointments
Community guidelines

All of our equipment is available to you, so long as you have attended the appropriate training. You can find some of the following in our shop:
