Pheminine

The objective of this project was to create a pH biosensor to allow women to be more in touch with their health and menstrual cycle by detecting changes in pH with colorimetric dyes.

Bryn Grespan, Karlee Malcolm, and Peter Loughlin explored which combinations of sensor materials (yarn, bioplastic, and thread) and pH-sensitive dyes (red cabbage, butterfly pea powder) were most sensitive to pH change.

At the end, the embroidery thread with color-changing butterfly pea dye was successfully able to track pH!
