Made by hand, shaped by curiosity

As a bioinformatics grad student, I spend most of my time working with data and code — but the MakerSpace has become my creative outlet outside the lab. Over the past year I’ve used the laser cutter, 3D printer, and woodworking tools to make personalized gifts including engraved charcuterie boards, wooden coasters, lanterns, bookmarks, keychains, and more. I learned that precision matters just as much in making as it does in science — laser settings, material thickness, and design tolerances all affect the final result. The MakerSpace made it possible to turn ideas into real, tangible objects, and I’m so grateful for that access.
