Collective Care: The Bird Bath Workshop

February 13, 2026

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This artist-led workshop invites participants to restore and activate an existing bird bath on campus. Using a modest piece of public infrastructure as a starting point, the workshop explores how care, maintenance, and attention are distributed in shared spaces. Participants will take part in hands-on observation, light material repair, and a drop-in making activity centered on hand-stamping copper pennies. These stamped pennies become small but meaningful contributions to a collective, evolving artwork. Rather than producing a single finished object, the workshop emphasizes shared process and participation. Through making and conversation, the bird bath becomes a site for reflection, inviting attendees to consider how acts of care shape public space over time. Friday February 13th from 2-4 PM meeting outside of the Mills Museum.
