CNC’ stands for ‘Computer Numeric Control’, and a CNC router is a subtractive manufacturing machine that cuts wood and plastics in three axes–X, Y, and Z–using computerized control. A router is typically used to cut grooves, slots, or decorative edges onto pieces of wood, and a CNC router can do that on a much larger and more precise scale. Using a CNC router instead of a manual router allows you to make multiples of the same project and to fabricate your project from a digital design with near perfect accuracy.
